Our Mission Story in Pictures

IBD Quilt Project generates public awareness for ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease including complications such as colon cancer and ostomy.  The quilt panels tour and exhibit for education and support.  Crafted by and for the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) community, the quilts provide an outlet to express the thoughts and experiences of living with chronic diseases.

We have had some great photo opportunities over the years.  Here are some of the places, faces and stories we have been a part of along the way.  If you'd like to share an IBD Quilt Picture with us, please send it as a JPEG file attachment to info@ibdquilt.org with details of the year, place, cause and the names (if you wish) of folks in the shot.  Describe as much as you'd like about the photos you send to us.

By submitting a photograph for IBD Quilt Projects photo page, you agree to have this picture and names appear on the Internet within our pages.  IBD Quilt Project does not use or share information from names or addresses for other than the purpose of posting photos and photo information on this website.

~ 2007 ~

Kirkland, WA Eastside Gastro hosted IBD Quilt Panels for a whole month in their waiting rooms

Seattle, WA - CCFA Education Day

Nelson Aldrich Junior Highschool.  Spring 2007 Science class of Mr. Buchanan.  IQP Board member, Sari Legge was facilitated by the awesome "Smart Board" computer screen in the Junior High Library.  It was a pleasure to teach all four 8th grade science hours.  Usually we talk to "our own kind", but this was IBD and Ostomy for non-patients.  IBD Quilt Project is such an excellent tool for this very kind of purpose.  We can't thank the wonderful kids and staff enough for this opportunity to do our Mission!  THANK YOU!

GYGIG PACIFIC NORTHWEST RIDE -  Seattle, WA

Chicago, IL - UOAA Conference ~ A rare event for IQP where almost all the Quilts and all the Board members gathered together.  Iris (President) is seen sitting our booth next to GYGIG and explaining the IQP to interested conference participants.  Sari (Treasurer) came as a guest motivational speaker for the conference, Susan (ED) came to work with GYGIG, and Christina (Secretary) and her husband brought themselves as conference participants.  J. Pacitti presents the GYGIG donation check to UOAA.

~ 2006 ~

2006 Omaha, Nebraska Fundraiser for patient Angie Bull Rosenthal!  Quite the party while this wonderful young lady faced a new diagnosis of Crohn's Disease.  It didn't stop her and her loved ones from putting on a great day of food, music and education while she raised funds.  WAY TO GO!!!

~ 2004 ~

2004 VERY early in the morning of the NY GYGIG opening ceremony in Manhattan.  L to R:  Babs Larsen (IQP Quilt seamstress, she makes each and every look so gorgeous for you to see, but what you don't see is that she makes them tough as steel to make many journeys!), Treasurer Sari Legge without benefit of flat iron; Iris Grimes-Coon founding member and President, looking confident and slicked back ready to go up state with the Riders; our Executive Director, Susan Balmas who does IT ALL.  She crews, slaves, plans, teaches, guides and makes sure we always grow the Mission in the coolest possible ways through the years.

2004 Get Your Guts in Gear NY 3 Day RIDE ... over 210 miles and a really BIG hill!  IBD Quilt Project followed and cheered all the way.

Our Board is nevah bored!

You'd think that everything would fit in one truck, but it doesn't!  The magic trucks and vans of GYGIG and the crews never run out of things to pull out for keeping everyone fed, watered, sheltered and safe.  We love our CREWS

Closing ceremonies for the NY GYGIG traditionally take place at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs.  It is a day of high emotions from knowing everyone worked so hard, had so much fun, made SO MUCH possible but that now ... like leaving camp ... must come to an end until next year.  "Tito, pass me a tissue."
